Wednesday was a pretty rubbish day – it started with a phone smashing incident (less than a week after I’d finally faced the fact that I’d have to just suck it up and pay apple to replace my iphone which hadn’t been working for two months…yes, it took me that long) – I was NOT happy! And the day didn’t pick up much from there.
So, in an effort to cheer myself up, at lunchtime I walked into town in Henley, to check out the charity shops there for any patterns or fabric that might be lurking. I got lucky in the first shop I went into – when I asked if they had any sewing patterns, the shop assistant said she didn’t think so, but she’d go and check for me…and emerged with a plastic box FULL of patterns. There must have been 60 odd in there. At least. I methodically worked my way through, putting any possibles to one side, and ended up with 6 that I liked the look of, and, more importantly, thought I would actually make. For less than £1 each I couldn’t really complain. I also picked up one more in another shop, where they actually had a few out. It’s possibly going to be a little on the small side for me, but I loved it (it’s the evening dress at the bottom of the pic below), and am hoping that either it might fit, or I can manage to add a bit so that it does.
What I’m even more delighted about is that when I looked at the patterns again later, I *still* thought that I would make them all, as opposed to that ‘hmmm, why did I actually buy this?’ feeling.
And to top the day off nicely, my pattern from Sew Little to Say‘s pattern gievaway had arrived! Thank you Sara!
And now, today is fabric trip shopping day, and I am incredibly excited!
